Debt Relief
With a possible recession coming, many Americans might need to consider negotiating with their creditors for debt relief. If you are having trouble paying your credit card minimum payments, having trouble paying your utility bills, or having trouble paying your mortgage, negotiating for some debt relief may help you to get back on your feet.
Many people find themselves in having money trouble when an unexpected event occurs. These unexpected events can take the form of an unexpected health problem. This is a very typical way that Americans begin to have debt problems. Another typical area where people can get debt problems is not planning for their taxes. It is also possible to get IRS tax debt relief from the Government. If you find yourself with an unexpected health crisis, you will rack up medical bills or maybe be out of work and have no income. These debt problems can lead to the need for debt relief.
If you are having debt problems, you can negotiate debt relief with your creditors. Typically this debt relief takes the form of a debt relief settlement where you agree with your lenders to pay back a fraction of the amount of your debt in exchange for paying it off all at once. Creditors sometimes will agree to this debt relief because they would rather get something, than nothing.
So if you are having debt problems, seek debt advice from a debt settlement lawyer and get some debt relief.

March 1st, 2008 at 8:14 pmThis is a very good post! Times are tight right now for a lot of american families, and the outlook is making it seem like relief is nowhere in site. If you are having tough times now, then getting in touch with your creditors and working out your finances can save you from losing all you have later.

March 2nd, 2008 at 10:58 amThere is a difference between a Debt relief lawyer and credit councilors.
I know for a fact that If you don’t owe a minimum amount the credit councilors won’t touch you with a ten foot pole.
I went through a period in my life where It was absolute hardship to pay anything other than house payments, utilities,a little food , and prescriptions. (life becomes a lot harder on disability.)
One thing that I ran into, was Veterans Administration Doctors who didn’t have full access to my medical file, and didn’t know me,(I had to go to a different part of the country to live cheaper) wouldn’t acknowledge the disability.
To shorten this up THE INSURANCE WOULDN’T PAY UP ON MY CREDIT CARDS.
I couldn’t (even though it had been acknowledged in writing by social security) GET THEM TO COVER A DIME.
The only relief I got was when the cards were turned over to a collection agency.
they negotiated a settlement and I was able to make payments (pretty much named in amount , by me.) and got the monthly amount down to where it was OK to pay a little at a time.
point is be aware that Just because you pay on an insurance policy doesn’t mean they’ll cover you when everything hits the fan.

May 30th, 2008 at 3:19 amThanks for sharing, a very informative post.
We have found that the snow-ball method is a viable way to help reduce debt. Basically, you concentrate all your efforts into paying off the smallest debt first.
Then, once the smallest debt has been settled, the surplus money you now have goes against the next debt, and so on, until all your debts are paid.
This is a great way to reduce debt and mentally it’s a very positive way to get back into the black again.
