Canon EOS 5D HD Video Capable DSLR

After much anticipation and following on the heals of the announcement of the Nikon D90 digital SLR camera, Canon has announced its Canon EOS 5D HD video capable DSLR. The Canon EOS 5D Mark II and the Nikon D90 are giant steps forward for digital slr cameras. By combining a great digital camera with a great digital HD camcorder, these digital cameras are going to change the camera industry and the camcorder industry.

While these new Canon EOS 5D Mark II cameras are quite expensive, $2,600 for the body or $3,499 with a 24-105mm lens, since they combine the functionality of a digital camera with a digital camcorder, you have to very them as a replacement for having to carry two devices. I love the idea of having a digital slr camera that also can take high definition videos. I rarely take out my camcorder because I hate to carry two devices. And, I prefer pictures over videos.

However, with the Canon EOS 5D HD video capable DSLR I will be able to take both pictures and high definition videos. That is a great improvement for the typicaly family. I am not sure if the typical family will buy the Canon EOS 5D HD video capable DSLR at this price, but in a year this price will fall in half. That will make this camera more mainstream.

No i don’t have digital SLR, and after reading your review and price of this Canon monster , i will not buy it soon, because it is real expansive. I don’t tell it is not worth the money, but same like you i will wake, one year or two, new technologies to come so prices could go down.

If you want digital camera and digital camcorder function in one gadget then canon EOS 5D mark II is the best choise. Itis quite expensive

Thanks for the info on new Canon. $3500. Wow. Do you think DSLR cameras are worth the price? I know there are cheaper entry level SLRs. Is the quality really that much greater than point and shoot? I found this site http://www.dslrcamerareviews.com that gives some info on them. Just trying to decide whether to buy a DSLR or point and shoot. Thanks for any advice.

DSLRs are totally worth the price. The EOS 5D obviously wasn’t made for people just starting out, lean towards something like a Nikon D40 or Canon Rebel XSi. That new Nikon D5000 looks like a solid buy, too. If you want some other places to look, I suggest CNET and http://www.timeforadslr.com/
