Fixing Warhammer Open RvR
Yesterday the Warhammer herald had an update stating that they were focused on fixing warhammer open RvR by increasing the XP from open RvR kills. Mythic is going to increase the experience gain for open RvR kills by 100%.
While I believe that this is a good start, I believe that the biggest problem with the Warhammer Open RvR system is convenience. p0tsh0t had a great article on fixing Warhammer RvR, and I thought that I would about an idea that I have to increase of the number of players who are participating in Open RvR.
The biggest problem that must be fixed in order to encourage more people to play Open RvR is convenience. Let's face it, scenarios are so darn convenient. The convenience of scenarios detract from people going to the open RvR lakes.
In order to fix the Warhammer Open RvR participation, let's look at what makes scenarios so convenient and so popular.
- Queuing - Being able to queue and teleport into any open scenario is awesome!!
- XP - The XP and renown points from scenarios is a very efficient way to level your character. In order to maximize my XP gain, I like to go out questing while I am queued for a scenario.
- Instant Action - I want instant action. My time is limited and if I want to PvP, let me PvP. Scenarios do a great job in helping people to find battles very quickly.
- Teleporting back to where you were before joining the scenario - I love this. I can continue doing whatever I was doing before joining the scenario.
In order to fix warhammer open RvR, I think that you need to build these same mechanics into Open RvR combat.
p0tsh0t has a great idea about queuing for the defense of a keep. I would like to add to his thoughts.
Fixing Warhammer Open RvR
1. Keep Defense - I like P0tsh0t's idea about a call from the King to protect a Keep. This would certainly add to the defense of Keeps. I wonder if instead of having the whole game coming to one RvR lake, you could have guilds decide which keep they want to defend and when that Keep is attacked you guild is asked to come to that Keep. If you decide to join the defense, then you would be automatically teleported to the warcamp of that RvR zone.
2. Offense - Why not allow guilds to teleport people to where they are. For instance, if a guild is trying to amass a warband to invade an Open RvR lake, the warband leader could teleport anyone who joins his warband to where he is. This would be a very fun and fast way to create battles.

November 4th, 2008 at 7:15 pmits part a good tactic to catch enemies while their numbers are low. If players are able to teleport to someone it would create a big disadvantage to taking over keeps. It loses the element of surprise.

good suggestions from both of you. this would definitely make open RvR more attractive. Mythic are also moving in the right direction
