What’s Wrong With Warhammer Online? Could It Be You?

I would like to thank Colin Brennan at Massively for tell me to read a great post at Hardcore Casual.  The Hardcore Casual blog has a great article discussing the problems of Warhammer Online.  The Hardcore Casual blog thinks that YOU might be the problem, and I think that I agree.

But don't think that this article is just a bash Warhammer article or an article to bash the players of Warhammer.  Hardcore Casual does a great job discussing what Warhammer does right.

On paper, everything in WAR works. In execution, each piece also works on its own. Scenarios are a noticeable improvement over WoW battlegrounds, PQs are a clever new way to implement PvE, and RvR is a ton of fun when players are battling over keeps or objectives, and truly does separate WAR from other MMOs in that regard.

But, I agree that despite these awesome game systems things aren't right yet.  Hardcore Casual's conclusion can be summed up as follows.

What Mythic failed to do is provide enough motivation to herd players in the right direction, to guide them towards the great content they have provided.

I completely agree with this statement.  The true problem with Warhammer is not the player base, but instead the incentives for experiencing all of the content.  I think that if Mythic fixes the incentives, almost all of Warhammer's problems will be fixed.
