Top 5 Problems With Warhammer Online

Let me start out by saying to I am a huge fan of Warhammer Online.  I don't want any of you not to read this for fear that this is just a hit piece.  It is not.

I am a Warhammer Online player who is passionate about the game.  And, this article will not just through stones, it will also discuss ways to fix Warhammer's problems.

This article should be read in conjunction with my last article titled, What's Wrong With Warhammer Online?  Could it be You?

So, here are my top 5 problems with warhammer online.

  1. Too many servers - Mythic needs to reduce the number of servers NOW.  I can log into a Warhammer zone and not see anybody running around.  This is terrible for an MMO.
  2. Players sprinting to T4 content - The fact that players are rushing to level up to get to the T4 content is not entirely Mythic's fault.  For some reason a lot of MMO players want to rush through content.  They don't want to see everything in the game, instead they want to level the fastest they possibly can.  I don't consider myself to be in this camp, but I am doing this in Warhammer for fear of being left behind the rest of the players and not having anyone to play with.  Maybe server mergers would help with this too.
  3. Not enough chatting - This was my major problem with World of Warcraft.  It seems like people don't chat with one another in Warhammer.  I am not sure why this is the case.  But, there is very little communication in the chat channels.
  4. Players are not brought together by the game - This criticism applies to everything except the Warhammer online scenarios which do a great job of bringing people to the content.  The public quests are empty, the RVR lakes are empty, the cities are empty.  Again, I believe that this issue in part could be solved by having more people on the server, but this is not the total answer.  Mythic needs to give direction to players.  There are a lot of zones and things to do.  The player base is too spread out to take advantage of open RvR and PQs.  My way of handling this is to (i) do more live events like Witching Night which brings players to specific zones and (ii) create frontlines of battle in ORvR whereby players are ported to the frontline so that large armies are formed to fight one another.
  5. Rewards - Right now people are doing scenario after scenario.  These reason for this is that scenarios offer the best experience and renown for the time involved.  To fix this, up the rewards of RvR substantially.  This can solved by bringing more players together to kill each other.  This will give more xp for RvR battles.  I think that live events in an RvR lake would also be a great way to direct people to ORvR.

What do you think are the problems with Warhammer, if any?  What are your suggestions for fixing them?
