Lenovo Ideapad Y550
This little computer has become very popular, likely due to its price and functionality. The Levnovo Ideapad Y550 is just over six pounds, has a 15.6 inch wide screen, has Intel Inside, and more. All for about $750. No wonder it's popular!
We here at MMO Explorer had to check this one out as it's definitely powerful enough to run most online games and MMOs and has better graphics than most notebooks, especially those of comparable price. So the Lenovo Y550 got on our list and is getting its closer look now.
Inside the slim Ideapad Y550 is a 2GHz Dual-Core Pentium processor (T4200), 2GB of DDR3 SDRAM, a 250GB hard drive, and four speakers with a subwoofer. The RAM can be expanded out to 8GB and most gamers with a Lenovo Ideapad will want to raise the RAM to at least 4GB for optimum game play. The hard drive is a Serial ATA, so it's easily swapped for something larger too, if that is something you'd need. With the four USB 2.0 ports built-in, though, it's likely an external, plug-in drive would suit better.
The big screen on this system is where the Lenovo Y550 really shines, though. Powered by an Intel GMA 4500MHD, the Ideapad Y550 has an amazing 1366x768 WXGA resolution on its 15.6 inch LED screen. Compared to most notebooks in this dollar range, the Lenovo Ideapad is far ahead of the game in graphics.
Built-in networking and wireless connectivity finish off the roundup on this great Lenovo Ideapad Y550. On top of all of this, though, the Lenovo Y550 is rated EPEAT Silver for eco-friendliness. This system is likely to meet the needs of most every MMO player who also needs a general all-around system for other uses.
