Yesterday my new computer supplies arrived from NewEgg. As I was trying to install my Intel Core 2 Duo e8500 CPU and heatsink, I had some trouble getting my heatsink on. I was using the heatsink that came with this Intel e8500 chip. Boy do I dislike the pushpin locking mechanism on the heatsink.
So that you don’t have the problems that I did, here is a video from YouTube showing you how to install Intel Core 2 Duo e8500 CPU and heatsink.

The Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 CPU is one of the best processors for someone looking to guild a great gaming desktop. At only $180 you really can’t beat this fast gaming CPU. If you are thinking about building a gaming PC, this is my recommendation for the CPU that you should use.
I recommend that you purchase the 3.16 GHz Core 2 Duo E8500 CPU. This 3.16 GHz clock speed is very fast and perfect for you gaming desktop. The Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 uses the 45nm Wolfdale chip. It includes 6MB of L2 SmartCache and a 1333 MHz front-side bus.
You might be wondering why I recommend a dual core chip instead of the quad core intel CPU. For building a great gaming desktop a dual core chip is sufficient. Overclocking is better for dual core CPUs as compared to quad core intel chips. However, if you have your mind set on a Core 2 quad CPU, I recommend the 3.0 GHz Core 2 Quad Q9650.
I hope that this review of the Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 for gaming desktops has helped you. If you have any questions about the Intel Core 2 Duo E8500, please leave them in the comments below.
