For many, that means playing Mario.  When Super Mario Galaxy came out in 2007, a lot of people thought that this was the epitome of Mario games.  It was awesome, it was 3-D, and it was highly addictive.  Now we have Super Mario Galaxy 2.  As if to prove that the first was just a good start on a new branch in the Mario Tree, Super Mario Galaxy II goes all out.

The game has spectacular graphics rendering, beautiful space-scapes, and is probably the most challenging Mario to-date.  Probably the most challenging bit of the game is going from 3-dimsensional, 360-degree playing to sudden transitions to old-style 2-dimensional mazes.  It sounds hokey to say it, but actually playing it is a blast and requires a total shift in your thinking, mid-game.

These continual shifts in tempo and perspective (even going to upside-down play) are fun to react to and require some real skill-honing to shift from one mode to play to the next.  Best of all, you can basically get all the way to 60 stars (finish) without seeing the same game play scenario twice.

A truly great game.

Today, we're looking at the Sapphire 5870 Vapor-X graphics card.  Also known as the HD5870, the card is the latest from ATI to completely upgrade everything, not just the processor or on-board RAM.  It was also the first DirectX 11 card to make it to market.

The Sapphire 5870 uses the 40nm RV870 DirectX 11 core that clocks at 850MHz with a 1GB buffer.  The Sapphire Vapor-X is multi-display ready, much faster than any of its predecessors, and has more texture units and stream processors than any other card before it.

What all that means is that the Vapor-X graphics card has a mind-boggling 2.7 TERRAFLOPS of computer power in this little card.  That's a lot of juice and it shows in performance.  The Sapphire 5870 performs significantly better than its closest counterpart, Nvidia's GTX295.  High-def rendering speeds were a full 14 frames faster - on par with dual processor cards, which are priced much higher!

In DirectX 11, it really shines, so the latest games to come out will definitely show hard-core improvement when played with the Sapphire Vapor-X versus an older counterpart.

Overall, this card is well worth the purchase if you can get one.  Definitely for the serious gamer, it delivers some of the best graphics output available!

Metal Gear Solid has always been one of the most popular PSP games out there and the latest, Peace Walker, has taken it up a notch with some awesome Metal Gear Solid gameplay for the portable.  Definitely tops right now in the most anticipated of the great PSP games to hit the shelf.

If RPG is more your style, you'll love the latest Valkyria rendition with Valkyria Chronicles 2, which doesn't have the HD of the console version, but takes it to the next level with some awesome gameplay and great additions to the classes and multiplayer modes of the original.

For the horror/first person fan, there are a couple of awesome PSP games available.  The classic Resident Evil is now Portable with some great game play, good story continuance, and best of all: a quick-play Gun Survivor option for just getting out your zombie-slaughtering needs with a quickness.  One of the best PSP games available now.

Close behind, though, is Parasite Eve on its 3rd Birthday, whic his definitely another favorite in the PSP games roundup.  This evolution of the popular story-based RPG/shoot-em-up is more aimed for the 3rd-person-shooter lover than it is for the RPGer.  Still, an awesome game that is definitely one of the great PSP games.

Overall, whatever your favorite, there are some awesome titles in the lineup, contending for the best PSP games available right now.  PSP keeps its promise of being a console in your hand, for sure.

First off, the little Wecam Pro 9000 is sleek and versatile, mounting just about anywhere you can fit it: on the monitor/laptop case, flat on a shelf, or whatever.  It's classic black and chrome colors don't hurt either.

For features, this Logitech Webcam Pro comes with Vid video calling software, ultra-smooth auto-focus and an awesome Zeiss lens system for better optical quality.  It records in HD video, has Logitech's awesome RightLight2 Technology and has a great built-in mic for picking up great audio quality for most webcam tasks.

All that for less than $100 retail.  The Logitech Webcam Pro 9000 is definitely worth the price.  As for how well it works when using it?

Well, it's easy to set up.  The only thing to install on most systems is the Vid software, if you plan to use it.  Otherwise, the Webcam Pro 9000 is plug-and-play on nearly every Windows and most Mac systems.  It integrates quickly with both its own Vid software as well as popular video conferencing apps like Skype. Recording video is a snap too.

The camera itself is entirely hands-free and requires little tuning once set up.  It auto-focuses, the RightLight2 software balances contrast to match the lighting conditions, so you don't have a lot of dark or washout screens, and the 2 megapixel videos are crisp.

The Logitech Pro 9000 is a great peripheral and totally worth having.  Check it out!

The Alienware M17 (or M17x) is a new rig that PC Magazine says "performs like a rockstar." The M17 gaming laptop has a lot of great stuff included. First, performance.

At the core, this system has an Intel Core 2 Duo or Quad, depending on your choice (standard is a Core 2 Duo P8600 2.4GHz). The video card in the M17 gaming laptop is an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260M standard, but can be upgraded all the way to an ATI CrossFireXTM Dueal 1GB. The system comes standard with 4gb of RAM (DDR3 1066MHz), which can be upgraded to various other configurations including the 8gb Dual Channel DDR3/1333MHz.

The screen is an LCD panel that measures an impressive 17 inches diagonally. Standard is a WideXGA 1440x900/900p, but for only $150 extra it can be raised to a WideXGA 1920x1200/1200p for extreme HD. Definitely worth that price, in my book.

Here's the best part and what you've probably been waiting for. The system comes in a limited edition Nebula Red which has awesome Ferrari-style red stripes on a black case (when opened) and a red and black exterior on the clamshell along with red eyes on the chrome Alienware head logo. It's totally awesome to see.

There are two kinds of gamers: those who buy their systems off the shelf and hope for the best and those who build their own and use great hardware like the Cooler Master HAF 932.

The HAF in the Cooler Master HAF 932 tower name means “High Air Flow.” With three giant 230mm fans rotating at 700 rpms and another 140mm fan turning at 1,200 rpms, I think “high air flow” is right. Beyond that, the Cooler Master HAF 932 full tower case has a whopping six 5-1/4 inch bays and another five internal 3-1/2 inch bays to pack all the hardware you want into it.

While not flamboyant or overly-snazzy, the paint is a strong powder-coat on this sturdy steel case. At the bottom of the front panel is one of the 230mm fans. The Cooler Master HAF 932 has another of those at the back along with the top-mounted 140mm works the peripherals.

The built-ins on the Cooler Maser HAF 932 full tower case are premium, with four USB 2.0, a Firewire, an eSATA, and a mic/headphone port. Each fan is also connected to the motherboard via 3-pin plugs, or directly into the power supply. If you're buying this premium case, you're likely getting a premium MB too, so you'll have the ports to plug in and monitor the fans.

Another great piece of forethought that the Cooler Master HAF 932 tower designers put in is the mounting brackets for the fans themselves. The large fans can be removed and replaced with up to three smaller fans, which many would prefer if they like high-speed airflow rather than large volume flow. There are also holes already-drilled for liquid cooling, if that's your gig.

The stands can be replaced with wheels, which come with the Cooler Master HAF 932. That's pretty sweet too. In fact, the Cooler Master HAF 932 full tower case comes with so many thoughtful extras that you'd swear it's a premium priced setup too. It's not.
