Two Boxing Tip of the Day

My second day of two boxing went much better than my first.  I had a much easier time because I ran the two instances of the game side by side in windowed mode.  I could just move my cursor from one window to the next without having to alt-tab.   I am not sure why, but this allowed my computer to run better.  However, I still went linkdead several times when I tried to zone two characters at the same time.

I also created a monk and a warden to two box with on the Antonia Bayle server.  I have a monk on Nagafen and love his survivability and fairly good dps.  The warden will be nice for its heals, bristlecoat, and porting.  Additionally, the warden’s nuke are fairly fast casting so I found this to be a help.

I hope that the addition of another 1 GB of memory will help with my linkdead problem.

My First Days of two Boxing

I just bought my second Everquest 2 account yesterday and started two boxing using one computer. My experience so far has been mixed. I started with my level 11 warlock mentoring a newly created shadowknight. In two nights of play, my warlock is still level 11 and my shadowknight is level 8. I think that the shadowknight would be further along if he just soloed.

Two boxing is tough. I put on character on autofollow and then destroy things with my higher character. Where I want to get to is the ability to switch back and forth and cast spells and combat arts from both characters. So far my dexterity is not good enough.

I also think that my computer is underpowered. I run an AMD64 3000 with 1 GB of RAM and a Nvidia 6600 GPU with 256MB of memory. I would go out and buy more memory if I thought that was the problem, but I think it could be my CPU. When I monitor it, it is usually close to 100% usage.

Well, I have not given up yet. If you have any tips for me, please share them by leaving a comment.

Long Overdue Fix For PVP

Woot!!! EQ2 finally fixed my major issue with pvp - zoning while in pvp combat. Let me tell you, I stink at PVP. Yes that is right I am probably the worst pvper on Nagafen. Therefore, when I am finally about to kill a Freep and he zones to escape my rare kill, I just want to cry. Finally EQ2 fixed this. No longer will players be able to zone once engaged in pvp combat.

Thank you SOE!!!

Koshchei - My New Wizard on Antonia Bayle

After reading MMOQuests.com and World of Cord, I got the itch to create a character on Antonia Bayle to get to know Stargrace and Cordanim. I chose to create a wizard named Koshchei, the same name as my conjurer on Nagafen.

Koshchei

Upon entering Norrath, I sent Stargrace a tell and got invited into her guild, Torrent Knights. Cordanim is also a member of this guild. I look forward to playing with all of my new guildmates. Getting to know players in the game is my favorite part about the game.

Currently, Koshchei is level 15 with 5 AAs. Boy is it hard to start out on a new server. Stargrace was kind enough to making me some bags. I was getting so frustrated having to discard loot that I had no room to carry.

So far I really like being a wizard, but they are harder to play than any other class I have played so far. That might also be a product of not being able to afford any new equipment or spells. I am running around with quested gear and App I spells.

I started off leveling on the newbie island. From there I quested in Forest Ruins until level 10 and then headed to The Caves. The guardians in front of the fort in Forest Ruins killed me more times than I would like to admit. Wizards are too squishy!!!

However, now that I am level 15 with 5 AAs I am now having an easier time. I have been placing my AA points into Magi’s Shielding.  Magi’s shielding is excellent for a soloing wizard because it provides a ward on all incoming damage.  The more AA points you put into it, the more damage the ward prevents.  Another boost that I have gained is having the spell conflagration at Master II.  This Master II spell deals point blank area of effect damage.  With this spell, I can one shot groups of green mobs.

What hints do you have for playing wizards?

Introducing Koshchei My EQ2 Conjurer

I want to introduce you to my second most played toon after Stealthfighter. Koshchei is a level 29 Conjurer on the Nagafen server. I started playing Koshchei about 2 months ago as a character that I solo with.

Conjurer’s are great soloers. As long as I keep my pet spell and pet heal spell at Adept III, there is nothing I can’t solo and very quickly. When soloing, I typically play with my tank pet, Deathless. At level 29, I just received a new direct damage spell, Spiked Rain. This will be my primary direct damage spell. In addition to this direct damage spell, I love using my encounter based AOE spell (Shattered Ground) and my point blank AOE spell (Seism). These AOEs are awesome. Once I release these two spells, everything around dies almost immediately. In addition to their awesome damage, these spells also look awesome when cast. Rocks fall from heaven and crush my foes. Of the classes that I have played, I think that the conjurer’s spells look the coolest.

Throughout my twenties I have primarily quested in Butcherblock Mountains.  This is a great zone for questing in your twenties.  There are tons of quests.  I am looking forward to finishing these quests and moving to Steamfont Mountains.  Additionally, I have not done the Bloodline Chronicles so I am going to do that in my thirties.

Can anyone suggest something cool for me to do in my thirties?  If you suggest it, I promise you that I will do it.
